FAQs
Are your workshops suitable for beginners?
Yes, yes, yes! All of my workshops are tailored to ALL of the participants in the class - and there are always a couple of nervous newbies who haven’t held a paintbrush since the 90s. You’ll be fine. In fact, you’ll love it! I find beginners always surprise themselves with what they can accomplish in a short workshop.
Which workshop should I choose?
It really depends on your schedule. The 5 day workshop is great for anyone who would like to cover the basics of tone, composition and colour mixing with lots of helpful exercises. The portrait and still life workshops cover all of the same topics but in a more accelerated course, and are great for painters who have a specific interest in those genres.
Will I finish a whole painting?
Yes, you will take home a small, finished oil painting and you’ll have the skills to make more :)
What do I need to bring?
Just an apron or old shirt to protect your clothing. All materials are provided (with an option to buy a beautiful brush set if you would like to keep your brushes).
Can you cater to vegos/vegans/dairy free/gluten free/etc?
Yes! Just let me know your dietary requirements and I’ll make sure you’re covered.
Do you ever offer paint and sip classes?
At the moment - no. To be clear, we do sip, and if sipping is your thing, you won’t be disappointed! But the focus is on learning the skills you need to make your own paintings in future. As much as I love paint and sip classes, unfortunately I’ve found it’s not really possible to teach my method of oil painting and leave with a finished painting, in less than about 8 hours.
I have a group of friends ready to paint! Will you come and teach in my town?
Maybe! Occasionally I do take group bookings or travel within SA to teach - shoot me an email and we’ll see if we can hook it up.
